In the wake of a flopped movie which missed the substance of the original film, let’s discuss Evil Queen energy as an archetype, why it is harmful and destructive, and what you can do to combat it in your own life.
First off, what is Evil Queen Energy?
Evil queen energy is empty values created by a culture of over consumption and imbalance deliberately designed by the Enemy to create a destabilizing force in our modern day culture. This is what we in Neo Gnostic Christian tradition refer to as a soul trap
Do you ever look around at your life and think wow – how did we get here and what’s the point? Look around the next time you’re in line at the grocery store, or a supermarket. Chances are good every person in line with you is on their phones, scrolling away. Not typing, answering emails, texting, just scrolling. Doom scrolling news articles. Doom scrolling social media, looking at people you know (or don’t) who have lives that look perfect (they aren’t). Then you flip over to the news, because good citizens stay informed right? Ooh, big mistake. Pocket tornados, snow in Hawaii, destabilized countries. In the USA, politicians who tell you that you shouldn’t be a Democrat and Christian, and that with a ‘swipe of their pen’ they can charge someone with a misdemeanor and ruin their lives. But to support the other side is to signal that you are complicit in white supremacy? Yikes. Back to social media. Where appearance is all that matters. Still not feeling better? Put something online and get a little dopamine hit. Buy something now, because you know that the biggest consumer festival of the year – what we used to call Christmas – is coming up.
Welcome to the modern world, where the values of our religions, our ancestors, and our own common sense have been replaced by what I call Evil Queen Energy. What is Evil Queen Energy? In German fairy tales, Grimhelde held great beauty, but as a woman, her intellect and political prowess were ignored. So she became obsessed with her appearance in the mirror, going so far as to enchant and entrap her lover, and then used that mirror for an endless empty loop of self comparison with others.
Sound familiar? It’s a bit like social media is it not?
In the place of moral guardianship and values, Evil Queen Energy reigns supreme. Envy and appearance based culture fawns around youth, particularly fetishizing female appearance. In a universe where the three dimensions we see are far from the only things that matter, an obsession with physical appearance keeps us from connecting with our higher selves.
The Evil Queen does not want you to stop and sit with your own sense of spirituality. She wants you envious of others, obsessed with self comparison, constantly posting online, constantly buying to again, curate appearances. She encourages empty values and negative emotions. What is the antidote for this poisonous eroding of our values? Love, a love of ourselves and a love of our values. And naming. Remembering who we are. We do not live to see ourselves in a reflection of a small black screen. We live to love, to create love, and to move past our own limitations to a life of value, substance, and true connection.
Every story contains archetypes. Snow White is an allegory for the activation of the seven virtues in Christianity, and depth of character beating shallow, empty envious values. The Evil Queen is a metaphor for narcissistic energy, also known as an empty devil or an Xthroi. As you navigate your own life, do not let the envious whispers of the Evil Queen deter you from your soul’s purpose. It is the job o the Enemy to deceive. But it is our birthright to overcome and rise victorious into our own destinies and our own truth.
